E90 2 Antique Silk Panels Woven Ivy Triangles.
These two panels each measure 58" x 13". One
is black plain weave silk with woven banding at the
ends, the other is bone with woven triangles that
contain arabesque patterns, ivy, etc. The
photo bottom right shows the back side of the
triangle pattern. The bone silk has some vague
stains, but nothing too distracting. The
picture center left shows a careful repair.

E135 Chopstick Set 4 Pairs Rests Sauce Sushi Bowls.
Here the box is pretty as a display item whether you
use the sticks or not. There are four pair of
inlaid wooden sticks with matching rests, and four
wooden sauce bowls to go with them. Excellent
condition, most likely unused. One end of the
box lid has separated at the corners; easy repair if
you wish to do so.

E184 Antique Kimono Donuki Wood Block Dyed Meiji/Taisho.
At least, that is what I think this kimono is called. As you see, the
sleeves and lower garment and collar strip are black creped silk, and then you
get to the middle area, and WOW. The turquoise and red patterning takes
over and doesn't leave time for you to take a breath! This exterior
pattern is done with patterned wood blocks. The blocks have carved
patterns on them, and the silk is laid flat between the blocks. Then the
dye is poured through the blocks, leaving this wonderful pattern behind.
Can you imagine the time it must take to do this? The little dark spot you
see in the lower right picture is what I believe to be a faint bit of black dye.
It is not all that noticeable, and I was so impressed with the overall excellent
condition of this garment that I was willing to accept this small anomaly.
The liner is somewhat orangey, as it appears in the photos, but the red on the
exterior is red-red, not orange as it appears in the pictures. The garment
has the feather lightness of a Meiji Period piece, but I would guess Taisho
Period for the type of work.

Hanten Happi, Hot Pink, Turquoise, Mikimoto
Cosmetics.
This happi was made for the Mikimoto company,
cosmetics division. I
love the brilliant colors, the Mikimoto logo and the
back of the garment. It makes me think of a
contest between cosmetic companies and that's just
too funny. Here are your specs:
Mikimoto Hanten

•Width: 126cm (49.6inches)

E200 Antique Kimono Komon, Edo Komon Dot Hexagons.
A deep rosy red base color is enlivened here with
what is called Edo komon pattern, which is a pattern
of tiny white dots; they are arranged here in
hexagons. The silk is soft and fluid with
excellent drape and the condition is also excellent.
Here are your specs:
•Length: 149cm (58.7inches)
•Width: 128cm (50.4inches)
•Sleeve: 49cm (19.3inches)
•Shoulder: 64cm (25.2inches)

E201 Antique Kimono Indigo Kasuri Noragi, Light Hem.
Upon close examination, you can see that this
pattern is really not at all like that of K88, but
distance does confuse the eye a bit, so I have added
the notation of light hem, meaning the reinforcing
fabric along the bottom interior edge of the jacket.
This is in excellent condition, mid weight with a
partial white shoulder liner and partial self fabric
lower liner. Here are your specs:
•Length: 41"
•Width: 42"
•Sleeve: 5-9"
•Body Width: 25"

E202 Antique Kimono Yukata Navy, Cream, Gold/Green.
This is another of those garments that presents
better in person than it does in the photos.
There is a subtle dignity about this one in person
that the photos failed to capture. Excellent
condition, the ground is a medium cream tone that
supports the dark navy blue and golden/greenish
colors and the patterns created by them. Here
are your specs:
•Length: 59”
•Width: 51.2”
•Sleeve: 18.1”
•Body Width: 25.2”

E203 Antique Kimono Indigo Kasuri Noragi, Dark Hem.
I've specified 'dark hem' because this one looks so
much like E201 at a distance except for the interior
hem reinforcement fabric. This is a woven
shima kasuri in indigo and white, excellent
condition. Partial liner at shoulders in
white, self fabric partial liner in the lower body.
Here are your specs:
•Length: 40"
•Width: 42"
•Sleeve: 5 1/2-9"
•Body Width: 23" |
