Estate Jewelry

This page will have gold and gemstone jewelry that has been purchased from estates all over the country.  Gram and carat weights have been approximated, as it is not possible to get exact measurements and weights from stones while they are in the mountings.  Sizes of rings will be listed in the descriptions, and can be sized by any competent jeweler in your location, should they not already be your size.

All gemstones have been tested for authenticity, so you need have no worries about buying fakes.  Pearl rings offered in the Estate category could be freshwater Pearls or saltwater Pearls; I can't tell once they are mounted in rings where I can't hold them separately and weigh them. 

Vintage Ametrine Slider Pendant in Sterling Silver. 

4.56 grams, the pendant measures east to west a total of  25mm; the beautiful Ametrine measures 9mm x 11mm and is very very clean.  Stamped 9.25 (picture bottom left) and with a soft swirling design, this pendant would work as well on an Omega as on the chain of your choice.  The bail opening is right at 4mm width-wise and slightly more lengthwise, so having it fit your necklace should not be a problem.  It is $85.00. 

Vintage Mexican Fire Agate Ring; Gold Head, Sterling Silver Band.

This is a wonderful example of the Fire Agates you used to be able to acquire; those days are gone.  Deep coppery brown agate has fantastic green 'walkers' and even a small amount of blue, as you can see in the photos.  The ring weighs 4.59 grams, is size 5.75 and the Fire Agate itself measures 7mm x 12mm.  The artist did not sign the piece, but place of origin can be narrowed down by the lack of a metal mark in the band or on the head; that's US work.  The ring itself shows some fine wear marks that would buff out if you wanted to take the trouble; the Fire Agate is in excellent shape, smooth and glossy with no damage.  This is not an item you will see similar any time soon.  It is $135.00. 

Fiery Opal Vintage Sterling Ring, Rope Twist Pattern.

Weighing 4.06 grams and a diminutive size 5, the north-south face of the ring is 6mm wide.  The opals are unharmed and are not chipped, which is so very important on rings like this one that expose the stones so freely.  I photographed that mark for you too, although I am forced to admit that I have no idea what it means.  This one is Sterling, in excellent shape and is only $55.00. 

Vintage Sterling(?) Ring With Inlaid Opals, Stunning Fire!

This one weighs 6.75 grams and is size 6.25.  The face of the ring measures north/south 14mm, the center oval Opal is 5mm x 7mm.  Please remember that sizing should not be done on a ring with inlaid stones; mayhem will result.  The reason I leave the question mark about the Sterling is that even though it is clearly marked as such, I believe that it has some sort of plating over the sterling; perhaps a treatment that gives it that look of advanced age that I do not believe it possesses.  The color of the metal is much like the near-black Tungsten that has recently been popular in men's jewelry and the effect is interesting but I don't know if it is intentional or purely accidental.  Either way, it is a very beautiful ring because of the arrangement of the Opals and the magnificent color and fire they have.  Unique piece, it is only $65.00. 

Estate Ring, 10kt White Gold, "Our Love."

This sweet little ring has a tiny Diamond mounted in the very center; I did manage to photograph it for you and the picture is the one in the top right corner of the group.  the picture bottom center shows the markings, including OUR LOVE.  10kt White Gold means that it is very strong and durable and will give you years and years of trouble free wear.  The pattern of hearts around the navette shape is especially charming.  The ring weighs 2.16 grams and it is currently size 6 and it is $125.00.   

SOLD Custom Estate Ring, Yellow Chrysoberyl MONSTER, 14kt YG.

Wow, look at this!  This is a monster stone, measuring 15.5mm x 11.3mm x 11mm and weighing in at approximately 22cts.  It is clean and free of color zoning; I would estimate the clarity at VVS.  The cutting is an essential Emerald shape, but with what appears to be step cutting from the girdle down toward the apex.  This gives the stone more sparkle than you would otherwise see in this shape and cutting.  The mounting is simplicity itself; a wide shiny high polish 14kt Yellow Gold without ornamentation, ending in four long prongs to hold this huge stone; a very Tiffany-style mounting that I like to refer to as a glove ripper.  Securely mounted and clearly marked inside the band, the total weight of this ring is 6.85 grams and it is currently size 7 1/4.  It is $375.00.

14kt Yellow Gold Estate Ring, 3 Emeralds.

This pretty ring is a size 7 and has 3 Round cut Emeralds with excellent color.  It is a dainty ring with a lovely filigree mounting that is sure to be loved.  The ring weighs a total of 1.85 grams; the Emeralds measure just over 3mm and just over 2mm, so I am estimating the total carat weight at around .25.  The ring is $125.00.

Estate 14kt Yellow Gold & Diamond Ring, Unique Design.

Be quick on this one; I can't see it lasting long!  This is a very cool designer piece, and as you can see it is open along most of one side,  and has a complimenting open slash on the opposite side too.  In the long stylized horseshoe or tuning fork shape that is the face of the ring, there are sixteen 2pt Diamonds for a total of .32cts, all Round cut.  The ring is 14kt and weighs a  healthy 4.2 grams and is currently size 6.  In excellent condition, it is $245.00.

Estate 14kt Gold Pearl, Ruby & Diamond Ring.

This one is worth the nine pictures I took to present it to you.  The Pearl is smooth and has lovely luster, and it measures 6-6.5mm.  The surround is eight 1.5-2mm Diamonds and 8 Rubies about 2mm each; Diamond weight would be about .20ct, the Rubies would total around .25cts.  The ring is currently size 5 1/2, and weighs 2.5 grams.  It is in excellent condition, and truly a masterpiece.  It is $325.00.   

Estate Black Onyx & Diamond Ring, 14kt Yellow Gold.

Here's one in glossy 14kt Yellow Gold, and as is typical, the Diamond is mounted in White Gold on the face of the Oval Onyx.  The Diamond is approximately 1.5mm in a Round cut and has very good sparkle.  This one has a lot of marking I don't understand after the 14k; I believe it reads ESEMCI, and there may be one character after that; I just couldn't bring it up with my camera.  The pinwheel shape of the Yellow Gold face mounting is very attractive and adds additional substance to this very nice ring in excellent condition.  The Gold face of the ring measures about 15mm x 14mm; a very rounded oval shape.  This ring weighs 3.87 grams, is currently size 7 1/2, and is $165.00.

Estate 14kt Yellow Gold Emerald & Diamond Ring.

This is a very high quality ring; the first thing you will notice is the way it is made inside the band (see picture center bottom) with the support brackets being solid rather than hollowed out; smooth and luxurious with no scratching during the putting on/taking off process!  The alternating groups of three stones have a triangular bypass effect that is very attractive, and the stones are very nice quality Emeralds and Diamonds. (3) 2mm round faceted emeralds and 3 clear and bright 2mm  Round diamonds make a dainty yet substantial face for this ring.  3.8 grams, currently size 6 1/2, it is stamped 14kt inside the thicker than usual (not wider, just thicker) shank.  It is $175.00. 

Estate Double Pearl Ring, 18kt Yellow Gold.

This is a very unusual Pearl ring; notice the two pictures farthest to the left, where the ring has been photographed from both vertical directions.  Notice how it appears that one of the Pearls is Champagne color, and one is White?  That is because the two Pearls are definitely two different tones; one is Champagne, and one is a pale Cream/White.  The effect is actually pretty amazing; what you will notice is that this ring keeps drawing the eye back to itself over and over.  The feminine slightly bypass mounting is all 18kt solid Yellow Gold, and the side ornaments are like long narrow leaves.  The two Pearls are 5mm each and this size 7 ring weighs 3.03 grams.  It is $175.00.

Diamond Estate Ring, 1/4 ct Cathedral, 14kt Yellow Gold.

18 little diamonds in two rows give an impression of Marquise shapes, but in truth all of them are Round cuts.  As you can see in the picture far right, the mounting is Cathedral shaped for more dimension, and also to allow all of the stones to sit on the front of your finger and stay out of the way of the fingers to either side of the ring.  Very nice near colorless diamonds, they are H-I in color, meaning that color is only visible when the diamonds are not mounted; when mounted, they are colorless.  Clarity rating for them is S-I, so they are very sparkly and pretty. Total weight of the diamonds is 1/4ct, and the ring weighs 1.4 grams.  It is currently size 7, and it is $225.00.
