Obiage & Obijime

Width measurements for most of the Obiage are taken at the narrowest point here, rather than the widest point, so your Obiage may seem bigger than you thought when you receive it.  They are all vintage, so there may be the occasional small spot or smudge, but nothing that interferes with the wear-ability or beauty of the piece.  They are mostly silk; if I have a synthetic piece I will mention it in the description when I am aware of it.  Below the Obiages will be the Obijimes; the cord that holds the obi knot in place.  Following the Obijime will be Haori Himo or Haorihimo, which are the cords or ties for haoris.  When ordering Obiage, Obijime and Haorihimo please use the OA, OJ or HH number in the title line to assure that I send you the correct item!

OA66 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Green & White Silk.

Pretty green and white banded silk with a pattern of concentric and joined rings.  This is a flat obiage, so has many uses beyond the traditional.  11" x 66", $30.00. 

OA65 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Wedding White Silk.

Many of these flat obiages of white silk are used as part of a wedding ensemble; here the pattern is chrysanthemum as befits a wedding accessory.  More ivory than titanium white, it measures 11" x 66" and is $30.00.

OA64 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Wedding White Silk.

Eggshell white with a pattern of Spider Mums, the chrysanthemum pattern is an auspicious one for weddings.  Flat obiages like this in white silk are somewhat difficult to acquire.  10 3/4" x 68", $30.00. 

OA63 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Wedding White Silk.

Another flat obiage in white silk, this one also with a pattern of chrysanthemums.  Soft fluttery thing is 12" x 60" and $30.00. 

OA62 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age Pink & White Silk.

Floral pattern is the foundation for the pink bands of color on this flat obiage in silk.  10 1/2" x 65", it is $30.00. 

OA61 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Orange & White.

Almost honeycomb pattern of three joined hexagons, sort of!  Peachy graduated color on creamy silk with the pattern replicated by dyed areas of a nice strong orange.  Wonderful flat obijime for any desired use, it measures 10 1/2" x 63" and is $30.00. 

OA60 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Pink, White, Silver.

Beautiful high class flat obiage with a continuous central pattern in silver thread woven into the white silk with graduated pink dying from edge to center.  11" x 64", $30.00.  

OA59 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Pink Shibori Silk.

Sweetly ruffled along the areas of shibori, this pink and white obiage is one of the prettiest I 've seen in a long time.  The ruffled area was difficult to measure, so I measured at the center, unruffled area; 12" x 56", $30.00.

Flat obiage in black silk with a repeating pattern of fans and flowers, this one is entirely unused; I removed it from its disintegrated wrapper to photograph it for you.  12" x 68", $30.00.

Whispery soft flat obiage in black silk with a repeating pattern of chrysanthemums either filled in or outlined.  11 1/2" x 64", $30.00.

Geometric pattern of blossoms on this flat obiage in black silk; not nearly as glossy as the pictures suggest.  12" x 56", $30.00.

OA52 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Black Silk. 

Trim those loose threads off the hems of this flat obiage in black silk and you are ready to go.  Lovely smooth silk with a pattern of flowers on 'book' frames, 13 1/4" x 48", $30.00.

OA51 Antique Kimono Obiage Obi Age, Black Silk. 

Flowers and leaves are joined by the 'figure 8' pattern you see in the second photo, this flat obiage in black silk has a double line of white thread that adds even a bit more decoration.  8 1/2" x 50", $30.00. 

Antique Kimono Obiage, Black Silk OA50. 

Flat form black silk obiage with a pattern of chrysanthemums, this Rinzu silk piece will suit many needs.  Very good condition, it is 66" long and 11 1/2" wide.  $30.00. 

Antique Kimono Obiage, Black Silk OA49.

Black silk flat obiage with a single silver thread at each hemline end.  Very good vintage condition, this makes a wonderful scarf in addition to being worn in the traditional way.  Measures 59" x 10" and it is $30.00. 

Antique Kimono Obiage, Red Shibori, OA48.

This one could be synthetic or mixed silk/synthetic; it has that whispery sound that I associate with a blend or synthetic fiber.  In any event, it is as cherry red as the pictures show it here and it is  in excellent condition.  It measures 54" x 11" and has a smaller than usual blank area at its lengthwise center.  It is $30.00. 

Antique Kimono Obiage, Peach Shibori, OA47.

This one is the same 10" width all the way along its 52" length.  It has a small stain shown in the pictures above and it has a couple tiny pinholes; these things are not terribly significant, but it is priced accordingly at $20.00. 

Antique Kimono Obi Age Obiage Coral Pink Shibori OA41.

This is a very deep pink that leans slightly toward coral in tone.  I mean to say that it is not a very 'blue' pink.  The shibori work is beautiful, showing a pattern of sensu fans.  Beautiful condition, it measures 60" x 8", having very little taper.  $30.00.

Flat braid obijime with a rosier tone of decoration about a foot from each end.  56", $15.00.

Flat braid obijime in medium green with inserts of multicolor thread on white; white and green mixed tassels.  56", $15.00.

Flat braid obijime in a good strong navy blue with no green undertone.  56", $15.00.

Black is more difficult to get than you might think.  Flat braid obijime is 56" and $15.00.

The color is darker and stronger in reality than it appears here; more of a red with pink detailing.  Unusual that there are no tassels; 56", $15.00.

Round braid obijime in black; use it for a belt, hair wrap or a sash.  60", $15.00.

Beautiful padded round obijime, probably a wedding accessory.  Woven gold and red with tiny red tassels, 48", $15.00.

Basic black; what could be more versatile?  56", $15.00.

OJ29 Antique Kimono Black Obijime, Round.

Nice round braid silk obijime in black; one of the most difficult colors to acquire.  Very nice vintage piece, it measures 56" long and it is $15.00. 

OJ28 Antique Kimono Black Obijime, Flat Weave.

Marvelous black silk Obijime for whatever purpose makes you happy; a belt, hair wrap, sash for a dress or robe, even useful for the traditional purpose!  Excellent condition, it is 57 1/2" long and $15.00. 

OJ27 Obijime Obi Jime Mint Leaf Green.

This is a really pretty shade of green, and the tassels on this one are the heavier, almost braided kind.  This is a nice big round Obijime in great condition measuring 56" x 3/8" and it is $15.00.

OJ20 Big Round Obijime Obi Jime, Dark Pink.

This one seems to have multiple cords twisted and woven together for some very nice texture effects.  A good strong pink, it measures 56" x 3/8" and is in good condition.  $15.00.

SOLD OJ19 Flat Obijime Obi Jime Pink & Peppermints.

Peppermints and bubble gum are what comes to mind for this one.  One edge is bright bubblegum pink, while the other is a red/white pattern that makes me think of peppermints.  Good vintage condition, steam the tassels to make them smooth again.  It measures 52" long and is 1/2" wide.  $15.00.

OJ18 Golden Yellow Round Obijime Obi Jime, Unused.

What a wonderfully cheerful color!  The tassels still have the covers on them; this one is entirely unused.  It measures 58" x 1/4" and is $15.00.      

OJ5 Day-Glo Green Round Braid Obijime Cord.

Heavier bright green round cord measuring 60" x 3/8" in excellent condition.  $15.00. 

HH12 Antique Kimono Haori Himo Ties Haorihimo Cords. 

Very unusual round braid himo with pom-poms on the ends instead of tassels!  Silvery ties and deep magenta poms.  $7.50.

Confetti colors along the length, deep pink tassels.  $7.50.

Double sided flat himo, beige on one side, purple on the reverse, tassels have both colors, of course.  $7.50.

Flat braid leading to square braid just above the tassels, these are white himo.  $7.50.

HH4 Antique Kimono Haori Himo Ties Haorihimo Cords.

Slightly darker in reality, they are a super-dark pink with turquoise accents.  Woven flat braid himo that appear to have been removed from a garment; the haori loops are still attached to them!  $7.50.  

HH3 Antique Kimono Haori Himo Ties Haorihimo Cords. 

Double sided himo, flat braid.  The closer picture is more accurate for color; they are more peach than orange and one side has peach at the top, black/bronze at the bottom, while the other side is reversed.  $7.50. 

HH2 Antique Kimono Haori Himo Ties Haorihimo Cords.

Rounded flat himo shading from nearly white down to a purple that is nearly black at the tassels.  $7.50.  

HH1 Antique Kimono Haori Himo Ties Haorihimo Cords. 

Salmon pink at the tassel ends, graduating to light cream at the loop ends.  Some very small 'rust' spots on one himo.  $7.50.
